Manor Farm, Hampshire

Garden Layout.

Design Rationale

The clients were specific with wanting to keep their pond, but to make better use of it. Therefore, a dining area has been situated overlaying the water on a raised platform, provide a calming and beautiful entertaining environment. To contrast the regimented and modern landscapes near the house the remainder of the garden has been designed to have a more organic feel. The majority of the trees in the grounds have been kept with only a small clearing being made to the North West of the site for a woodland escape. Perfect for the clients when they wish to immerse themselves in nature. Secluded seating areas around the house provided a wealth of various habitats for the clients depending on their mood, each one varying in character. The children’s play area and the trampoline is situated away from the house for peace however not too far from the vegetable patches to provide adult supervision should it be required.

Design Brief:

To create a woodland escape for a couple in their 50s who regularly have their grandchildren visit. The site was a large garden that the clients wished to be segregated into more usable areas. The desired ample seating and entertaining areas near the house, a safe space for the children to play away from the house and for the majority of the garden to be kept as natural as possible.
